il Motion Comfort Ratio

Motion Comfort Ratio was developed by Boat Designer Ted Brewer. 

The formula predicts the speed of the upward and downward motion of the boat as it encounters waves and swells. The faster the motion the more uncomfortable the passengers.

Thus, the formula predicts the overall comfort of a boat when it is underway. Higher values denote a more comfortable ride.

As the Displacement increases the motion comfort ratio will increase.

As the length and beam increases the motion comfort ratio will decrease.

La formula matematica è la seguente,
MCR = Disp / (2/3*((7/10 * LWL)+(1/3 *LOA))*Beam4/3 )

ma in rete non mancano i "calcolatori automatici" di cui voglio segnalare il seguente: Sail Calculator v3.53. (tra l'altro sono presenti un sacco di barche già inserite quanto a dati geometrici ed è possibile anche effettuare il confronto diretto tra due modelli selezionabili dall'elenco.. e non mancano anche altri "indici" di gusto e bontà, a partire dai soliti "rapporti" fino al sofisticato indice di "sicurezza" Capsize Ratio)

Per concludere, di seguito metto il conteggio relativo ad una serie di barche con indice decisamente elevato, dicendo che sotto i 20 dovrebbero iniziare le preoccupazioni (Transpac 52, Motion Comfort=14.91 !!!) e oltre i 50 via di sonni tranquilli (sorprendente il MC di 49.53 per l'Amel Sharki !); per inciso il nostro "SANTIPPE", Grand Soleil 39, si pregia di un ottimo 28.68.
